THE ROLE
We are looking for a creative and analytical Software Support Engineer to join the Portal team. In this role, you will be investigating, triaging and resolving issues identified by internal and external users and stakeholders. You will help the team ensure it meets the requirements defined by the Portal team. You will collaborate closely with the rest of The MLC’s Technology team to develop and implement appropriate corrective actions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional experience or college education in software development
- Experience interacting with data and databases, including writing SQL queries
- Experience with JavaScript, Java, (PHP or any other language a bonus)
- Experience with automated testing (integration testing a bonus)
- Ability to deal with ambiguous and complex issues, debugging and identifying root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Ability to adapt to quick changes to meet evolving business needs, using new technologies,
- Working in a growing business is preferred
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
AS A SUPPORT SPECIALIST WITHIN THE MLC’S TECHNOLOGY TEAM, YOU WILL:
- Develop a consistent approach for gathering, organizing and evaluating software problems
- Use good judgment and data analysis to identify problems
- Use your data and analytical skills to design and build reports and dashboards as required
- Report the statuses of ongoing issues and manage expectations of stakeholders
AS A SOFTWARE ENGINEER AT THE MLC, YOU WILL:
- Be familiar with Software Development best practices
- Write fast and reliable code including your own tests
- Deploy your code on various platform
AS A TEAM MEMBER COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE, YOU WILL:
- Effectively explain complex problems to a variety of stakeholders (technical and non-technical) and successfully develop consensus around recommended solutions
- Be adaptable to change and able to deal with ambiguity
- Create and maintain effective documentation relevant to best practices for software use, history of problems & solutions and reports
- Strive to develop your knowledge of music publishing, and your expertise knowledge of The MLC’s technology products, including the Portal
